6) What can we do about it? Study hard by all means, but USE your English for communication with other human beings. Don't build battleships from book-learning. It is a waste of time and money...

Especially--don't think of non-Japanese as extra-terrestrials (ETs). We are all human beings first and Japanese / American /British etc. second. Language is nothing but a mouthful of air--but it can move mountains if you use it right!
