Getting through customs


Mr. Suzuki has arrived in Australia for a 10-day holiday. At the airport, he is being questioned by a customs officer.

Officer: Please put your bag on the table and open it.

Suzuki: OK.

Officer: Where are you travelling from?

Suzuki: Japan.

Officer: Have you been to a farm or the countryside during the past few weeks?

Suzuki: No, I haven't.

Officer: Are you carrying any fresh food, meat or plant-life?

Suzuki: No, I'm not.

Officer: Do you have anything to declare?

Suzuki: Sorry, I don't understand.

Officer: Did you do any duty-free shopping on the way from Japan?

Suzuki: No, I didn't.

Officer: OK, fine. Please go through the green door. Have a nice stay.

Suzuki: Thanks.
